Colour
The plain white wire-frames are interesting when projected onto different surfaces however when they are viewed on a screen they can be cold and lacking in character. To try and counter this I am using the wire-frames as multiply layers with random videos behind. The result is a very subtle addition of colour gradients and texture to the wire-frames.
Sound
Recording and editing mechanical sounds from around the studio. These are some of the sounds I have collected. There is also a background droning sound i have created just to fill in any silences and to help blend tracks together.
At the moment there is to much printer sounds. I will need to find some more mechanical sounds before the end of the project.

Rotation
After learning about constraints I began to experiment with there effects. I created a rotating circle of points that would drive an animation. the results are good, showing the relationship sin() has with the rotation of an object. I am sure there will be some sounds that can relate to the movements created here as sin() functions are present in so many things from mechanical movements.
Maya Joints
After searching online I found a way to render the scene in maya and show the joints that are in it. this removes the need for the models which are currently showing the location of joints. Some examples of new and previous rigs are below.
Wireframe Composition
I had planned on making the movements looping wire-frames so it would be easy to make complex compositions. By rendering as pngs and then overlaying the clips in after effects the scenes like below can be made.
Maya Rigging
For this project I am looking at abstracting mechanical movements and sounds from the ambient noises we hear everyday. I am interesting in creating simple models with complex movements. Useing wireframes and very limited colour will put all of the emphasis on the movements.
Here are some examples of me experiments in maya.
The current models have been quickly made as an example to see the movement. I have a problem with the lack of precession and accuracy in how they are linked with the joints. Knowing that it could be very time consuming with little reward I am looking for an alternative to creating models to perfectly line up with the joints.
