Research and Insperation

After creating a number of separate experiments I decided to link them together into a complete app. The outcome felt like a scientific experiment. You weren't sure if it was trying to understand you getter or test you. It reminded me a lot of anti-chamber which contains riddle like prompts around that map, which are ofter essential to decode to understand the game mechanics.

Through discussion with Paul we get to the topic of point and click adventure games. Linked to my app through certain similarities. Both contain interlocking rooms and obscure objectives to progress. There is a well thought out design to the progression through the best point and click adventure games. The Objectives were often increadibly difficult and random at times. Usially involving collecting and combining items to use on the world. Finding tools to open vents or control panels, breaking through rotten wood or digging holes.

Through my foci research I have also been looking into the first online multi-player games. Below is a modern version of a m.u.d(Multi-user dungen) which like mentioned before has interlocked rooms and an intense level of difficulty. The graphics are ascii and create an overwhelming visial wall of text. The game involves a lot of reading and strategy.
